Jeanne Huff: Paris on my mind
If you've got a mad wad of money, you can take a romantic trip to the city of lovers: Paris, France. There's a Paris in Texas — Harry Dean Stanton stars in the movie "Paris, Texas."Last week, Bob (Jeanne's husband) and I went to Paris, Idaho. At least, that's what I call it. It's really Bacquet's, 350 N. Milwaukee, No. 1053. What's that? Sounds like a mall address? You're correct. Bob and I found Paris — at Boise Towne Square. It's right outside Macy's on the first floor. There are a few checker-clothed tables out front set up like a street-side patio. Patio at the mall? It's a gesture that feels not so much like it's thumbing its nose at the more corporate-minded shopping, but more as if it's saying, mall-schmall, here's a respite, a safe harbor, a getaway. Welcome — bien venu. The first room is set up like a retail wine shop with a refrigerated case filled with cheeses, sausages, meats, marinated mushrooms, dried tomatoes and more.
Curfews latest ploy to help curb 'mall rats'
WILMINGTON - If Concord Mall wanted to impose a curfew on teenagers on weekend nights, Eddie Tzafrir says he wouldn't mind. "They don't want to buy anything, they just pass the time. Things go missing," said Tzafrir, owner of Massage Wonder, a massage and beauty products kiosk at the mall. He says he's lost merchandise to shoplifting and time to customers who aren't spending money. "One or two occupy you, the other is touching everything." .
