| Target may open store in Plattsburgh
David Napolitan, manager of the Champlain Centre mall in Plattsburgh, said Thursday that a Target store is in the works for the shopping center, which is home to about 70 businesses. "Typically, it's our company policy not to comment on any matters like this," Napolitan said. "I will say that it's in the process." Plattsburgh's Press Republican newspaper reported Thursday that the mall is scheduled to present a plan to the Plattsburgh Planning Board next week that would include a 126,842-square-foot retail space after a former Ames store on the property is demolished. According to that report, the proposed store would include a pharmacy. According to the Target Web site, Burlington's closest store in the national discount chain is in Queensbury, N.Y., about 98 miles away.
Massages At Hand
It started as an online business, but has graduated to the most personal of touches with its customers - massage. BodyJaz - which continues to sell massage and relaxation products through its Web site (www.bodyjaz.com) - opened its first bricks-and-mortar retail outlet in February at the Woodfield Station shopping center at 29th Avenue and Willamette Street in Eugene. The store has since added five massage therapists to its three-person retail sales staff and is in the process of opening its own massage center in a space at the rear of the store. An "education center" under construction upstairs will carry books and videos - as well as instruction space - on topics including massage, Pilates and the therapeutic use of essential oils. "It's a very hands-on, friendly store," manager Amy Erenberger says.
